We Finally Know Who Will Replace Bobby Berk on Netflix’s ‘Queer Eye’

Queer Eye fans have been wondering who would replace Bobby Berk ever since he announced in November that he was departing the Fab Five. Finally, the answer is here: interior designer Jeremiah Brent will join the cast of the beloved Netflix show.

The streamer announced the news on Tuesday, writing that “the Fab Five might look a little different” in season nine, “but their mission remains the same: transforming the lives of everyday people from the inside out.” The upcoming season will be filmed in Las Vegas this spring, and will see Brent joining the other four hosts: Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown, Antoni Porowski, and Tan France.

Brent has both the design chops and the TV experience to be the Fab Five’s resident interiors expert. He and his husband, fellow designer Nate Berkus, have starred in not just one, but two of their own HGTV shows: Nate & Jeremiah by Design and The Nate & Jeremiah Home Project. He also hosted the show Home Made Simple, which aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network, and he co-hosted the Netflix reality show Say I Do, in which he lent his design expertise to weddings that were pulled together in less than a week. Last week, Brent also released his first book, The Space That Keeps You. Brent has not yet commented publicly on his casting but on Instagram Stories, he reshared Architectural Digest’s article about the news with a black heart emoji, and shared Tan France’s repost of the article.

In a January interview with Vanity Fair, Berk said that he initially decided to leave the show because his contract was up. But in fall 2023, Netflix offered the group an additional four-cycle contract. Berk told Vanity Fair that he thought that everyone had agreed to move on, but said that the other four changed their minds at the last minute. He admitted that “for a second” he was “mad,” but that he also “wasn’t willing to change” the plans he had already made for his departure.

Thankfully, Brent seems like he’s fully equipped to fill Berk’s shoes, and maybe a fresh face will breathe some new life into Queer Eye to boot.
