Lux Pascal, Pedro’s Sister, Has Been Cast in the Upcoming Thriller ‘Summer War’

Lux Pascal has been cast in the upcoming thriller Summer War, marking her first feature film role since coming out as a trans woman in 2021.

According to Screen Daily, which initially reported the news, Summer War “will centre on a U.S. champion of the board game Third Reich whose peaceful summer holiday in 1989 is shattered when a tourist mysteriously disappears at sea.” The movie is adapted from the novel The Third Reich by Roberto Bolaño, which was discovered following the author’s death in 2010, per the film publication. Pascal’s role is yet to be annnounced, but she joins castmates Dan Beirne, Aline Küppenheim, Augustín Pardella, and Malena Sánchez. Chilean director Alicia Scherson will direct Summer War and is writing the screenplay. Production is set to begin in the summer.

Lux Pascal, who is Pedro Pascal’s sister, hasn’t appeared in a feature film since 2019’s The Prince. More recently, she acted in the short film BUST, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Directed by Angalis Field, Pascal portrayed a transgender cop with the New York City Police Department who went undercover to make a drug bust, per the film’s official synopsis on the Sundance website. (Pascal playfully described the plot as “I’m a cop that wears ballet flats” in a post on her Instagram.)

Pascal also recently accompanied her older brother to the Emmy Awards in January, where the pair looked stunning in matching all-black attire. The two have long been sibling goals, with Pedro calling her “one of the most powerful people and personalities I’ve ever known” in a 2023 profile in Esquire. Meanwhile, in the Ya magazine feature in which Lux initially came out, she described her older brother as someone who “has served as a guide for me” and “one of the first people to gift me the tools that started shaping my identity.”

We’re looking forward to seeing Lux’s film career hopefully take off.
