Lady Gaga Is Headlining a Concert You Can Play Along to in ‘Fortnite’

In huge news for Little Monsters, gamers, and those who fall at the unholy intersection of both, Lady Gaga will headline season two of the Fortnite Festival. Which, yes, means that the pop star has finally figured out what Fortnite is.

Gaga has a long and storied history with Fortnite, meaning that she once tweeted “What’s fortnight” in 2019, without any further context. On Tuesday, she teased her appearance in the game by quote tweeting that viral missive alongside a preview of her avatar in the game.

Fortnite officially announced Lady Gaga as the headliner of Fortnite Festival season 2 on Wednesday. The Festival is a rhythm game within the wildly popular video game, which was introduced last December with The Weeknd as the first headliner. The Fortnite Festival Main Stage is basically like Guitar Hero or Rock Band but with pop stars, while the Fortnite Jam Stage allows players to make their own mashups and remixes of songs.

That means that several of Mother Monster’s classic tracks will be available in the game, like “Poker Face,” “Stupid Love,” “Applause,” “Bloody Mary,” “Born This Way,” “The Edge of Glory,” “Just Dance,” and “Rain on Me.” Players will also be able to unlock or purchase a number of Chromatica-themed in-game items. The premium reward track, which costs 1,800 V-Bucks (roughly $14 USD) to unlock, promises “a layer of Lady Gaga rewards,” including a Chromatica Guitar, Chromatica Keytar, and a Gaga-themed loading screen.

Additional Gaga-themed items will be available for purchase in the Fortnite Shop. The iconic leather bodysuit featured on the cover of Chromatica will be a playable skin, and players can also buy a Chromatica-themed bass and mic stand, as well as something called a “Rain Check Emote.”

Season two of Fortnite Festival will run from February 22 to April 22.
